"America es mi country. I belong here! America es mi life."
I could use this quote because it expresses how strongly David feels about the staying in the United States.

"Mi Hermana y yo came to America from mi country off a boat, then mi familia picked us up."
This quote shows how David came here. It shows that he did not come alone and how people like David will risk there lives just to come to the United States.

"Mi no get a green card porque it cost $30,000. Mi no have mucho money. Pero Mi wish porque mi no worry anymore. Then they cant send me back. Mi scared because of this."

I could use this quote for my oral history because It shows how worried David is about going back to his country. He was crying as he told me about this

At first I interviewed a boy named David S for El Salvador he is an immigrant. He told me about his struggle with being in the United Stated illegally. I asked him questions about how he got to the United States and what his struggles were, but when I went to meet up with him for a second interview and to get my release paper signed he was no where to be found. I was not going to jeopardize this project by not having enough information. Therefore I moved on to my next idea.

For this oral history assignment I am going interview two people who work in a prison a male and a female. There names are Officer Susan Rose and Officer Michael Marchese. Officer Rose  works as a employee supervisor in the prison and Officer Marchese works as a cook supervisor. With this oral history I want to interview them and ask them what it is like working for the government. I also want to know what it is like working around rapist and serial killers. I want to know what kind of training they had to learn in order to work around inmates. I think it is quite interesting what kinds of things happen in a prison because not many people know what it is like or how stressful this job can be.

My goal for this assignment is to see what it is like to work in a prison and learn how these ordinary people deal with working with murders, rapist, robber, etc… They both work in an all male prison. I want to know what it is like for them because my interviewees are male and female. I want to see what the differences are for the both of them.
I am going to ask the two of the the same questions.

I liked Eva Hoffmans story Lost In Translation. I felt that I could relate to Eva Hoffmans story because like Eva Hoffman when I was younger I liked to read a lot of books, I wanted to read anything I could get my hands on. I remember my mom always taking me to the Atco library and she would do her homework and I would pick out so many books and just sit down and read them all. I loved and still love getting lost in books. Like Hoffman the thrill, adventures, and the creativity is what drawn me into most books when I was younger. I liked that I could get lost in the book and imagine what the images would look like if I was really there. When I got to Middle school I felt like the creativity had gone away I could not chose what I wanted to read. This made me not like reading text books. I would just skim through them barely reading them, if I was able to chose what I wanted to read I would have been more interested in learning what the teachers prepared.

The Meaning

To love is to share life together
to build special plans just for two
to work side by side
and then smile with pride
as one by one, dreams all come true.

To love is to help and encourage
with smiles and sincere words of praise
to take time to share
to listen and care
in tender, affectionate ways.

To love is to have someone special
one who you can always depend
to be there through the years
sharing laughter and tears
as a partner, a lover, a friend.

To love is to make special memories
of moments you love to recall
of all the good things
that sharing life brings
love is the greatest of all.

I've learned the full meaning
of sharing and caring
and having my dreams all come true;
I've learned the full meaning
of being in love
by being and loving with you.

Like I said in my last blog post I use to hate twitter. However, with this class I started to like it. With the Twitterive I first began tweeting about anything like what I was doing and where I was at. Sometimes I tweeted about things I found interesting a lot of times I thought I was tweeting stupid stuff. After that I began actually understanding the project so I started tweeting about places. At first I did not know what direction I was going in. So I went to a park and took a picture of the park and how I felt at the park. I thought that would be my spot because I kept on going to that spot and kept on tweeting about it. However I did not have a lot of information on my place.

After that I had to find a new place and I was going to New York with my boyfriend so I told myself this had to be my spot. I went to New York and started tweeting as soon as I woke up in the morning about how I felt. Then as I got to the train station I stated tweeting about everything like how I felt and what saw. When I got to New York is when I started tweeting the most. I noticed that using Twitter while in New York made me very mindful of everything around me which also made me feel connected to my place. I feel as though because I had to tweet about my place it made me realized that I noticed things that I did not notice before. So yes tweeting did make me feel mindful and connected to my place and because I was mindful and connected I was able to come up with a great topic that came from my heart.

When I first used Twitter which was last semester I hated it. My professor from last semester had us doing an assignment with Twitter and I refused to ever use it again. My experience was with Twitter in the past was really bad. However, using Twitter for this class has actually been a great experience for me. I actually like it. When I first herd that we were using Twitter for this class I was kind of upset because I did have a bad experience with it last semester. Although, when I first herd the assignment I started feeling a litter better because I thought it was very interesting. Especially when I herd we were also using Weebly because I had never used Weebly before. Last semester we used Tumblr and I was interested in seeing the differences in the two. So far Weebly is ok even though Tumblr was easier to use, but I like Weebly because I feel as though you can do so much with it.

Twitter and Weebly have had an impact on my process and product in this project. With Twitter I have been able to find my place and find my thoughts about my place and tweet them. Twitter has helped my process in this whole project it helped me start my project because I can go back and look at my thoughts and come up with something. With Weebly I was able to put my thoughts into a blog and post them so I can get some feedback from my professor and classmates.

Just enjoying life, feeling free and being a kid.

I got this idea from these tweets
I miss going being a kid again and going to the park without a care in the world. Swinging on the swings sliding down the slide

Borderlands was pretty interesting because it was all poetry. I could not believe I actually read all of the poems because I do not usually like poetry. Not only that but it is hard for me to understand poetry unless someone explains it to me. I liked that Gloria Anzaldua’s poetry had to do with Hispanic culture. In some of the poems she mixed Spanish and English and in others she just spoke Spanish. I liked that she incorporated her language in her poety because you can see her way of writing in Spanish and English. I also like that her poetry has her heritage in it she talks about Hispanic foods that I thought were appealing. I think her poetry is very strong and meaningful.
